i have searched but havent found good videocasts or free online lecture courses for studying the history of architecture and also the history of classical music. anyone know any specific sites?

Harvard GSD has its guest lectures on the web (see link below). Or talks from the TED conference, tagged architecture. I know that theses are not exactly what you are looking for, but maybe you'll find them interesting. UNC Charlotte provides podcasts on a variety of architectural topics, including history. I bet there's more...I spent about 10 minutes with Google.

Go online and research the architecture, art, and other visual accomplishments discussed in The World Lit Only By Fire. Print out pictures, designs, etc. Compare and contrast them with each other. What do you see in common? What are the differences? Does it vary with the geographical regions of Europe? Put this together in a visual portfolio of the Renaissance. Have at least 10 examples in your portfolio. Remember, this is NOT a report but a visual portfolio of the Renaissance art, sculpture, etc. with short explanations for each.

in this case a visual portfolio means that you should take at least 10 examples of renaissance art. Get it not all from one country. Research styles in different countries. First look up what renaissance arts means. Read your textbook. And read "the world lit only by fire". I haven't read it and I am not familiar with it, but you should have read it and know what it deals with.
