Chicago Architecture Schools

Chicago Architecture Schools
Your opinion about fitting schools in Chicago?

I am currently living in the Northwest suburbs. I began to take architecture classes at a local college, and found it was not what I was looking for. I have decided and realized that I would be very much pleased to study and pursue a career in interior decoration. I have to stay in the Chicago area, and the closer to the northern side better. Does anyone know anything about fitting schools in the area, either from experience or foot to mouth, or read a book or article?

Columbia College is a major media arts college in the South Loop. I know they have fantastic interior design programs. You should definitely check it out.

Accredited Architecture Schools

Many architectural schools require specialty on-the-job training and internships at almost every level, which takes three years.

Students who intend to take online accredited architecture training should check to find out whether the training is accredited from a valid institution or not. The process of taking architectural licensing exams becomes a bit easier if a student takes training from an accredited institution. Online architectural training helps students choose their career path in architecture.

There are many online courses available offering two-year, four-year as well as five-year programs. Taking a four-year bachelor degree program is considered to be a good choice, as it helps exploring options before deciding which graduate program in architecture would be suitable to take.

Scope of Online Architecture Training

Online architecture training can help aspiring architects achieve their career goals. It instructs students in the art and science of designing and constructing buildings. There are many busy people who wanted to pursue an architectural degree, but could not manage it due to lack of time. Online architecture training is the ideal choice for them as it is neither very expensive nor time consuming.

You can easily manage your studies while working. Most reputable institutions accredit all online architecture schools. In a number of regions, architects need to have taken an approved degree program to obtain a license.

Students considering online architecture training programs might also consider looking into options related to technical, vocational schools or community colleges offering online training. This offers a better chance for students to get good internships and placements.

If a student enrolls in a trade school, he or she can earn a certificate, diploma or degree as an Associate of Arts or Associate of Science in Architecture. This helps students save a lot of time, complete the architecture course and become independent, thereby making a mark in their chosen specialization.

Online architecture training programs offer students courses tailored to learn architectural design. They also update students on a range of modern technologies and building sciences. Students taking online training can expect a considerable gain in knowledge of comprehensive skills like using Computer Assisted Drafting software and three dimensional visualization technologies. Many online architecture-training programs also include graphic design, drafting, design theory and architecture as well as engineering and communication courses.

Employment Opportunities

Online architecture training programs offers a number of employment opportunities to students who have successfully completed their architecture training. Students are generally prepared for entry-level employment such as Architect Technicians, Building Material salesperson, construction assistants, estimators, engineering technicians and several other related professions.

With this online architecture training, you can work with a company or even start a business of your own, provided you have a working license recognized by the state.

Germany Architecture Schools
Where in Germany should I move to?

I recently wanted to move to Budapest, Hungary, but a recent family incident has required my presence in Germany, where my family (ancestors and distant cousins) are from. I'm interested in getting a degree in music, and then going to law school. What city is right for me?

I am:

1. Conservative. In politics, architecture, food, etc.
2. I love classical music.
3. I like intelligent conversation, museums, etc.
4. I like the good life. I love eating out and having a good time.
5. I'm somewhere in between an American and a German. Americans think I'm very reserved, and Germans think I'm very bubbly.
6. I want to live in a classical apartment in a big city, but I want to be able to enjoy beautiful, untouched countryside.
7. I really don't mind tourists.

Thanks for any input!

Hey Tyler,

very good post.

I would recommend you to go to Munich.

I'll answer to all of your posts:

I'm interested in getting a degree in music, and then going to law school.

We've got both types of universities in Munich. Check the daad for more information: http://www.daad.de/en/index.html

1. Conservative. In politics, architecture, food, etc.

Cities are always less conservative than Country. Bavaria - where Munich is in - is the most conservative Area in Germany. Munich is a in politics not that conservative, but anything else would be conservative.

2. I love classical music.

The Munich Philharmony is excellent. http://www.mphil.de/mphil/en/
There is also opera, many theaters, musicals, and so on. Munich is sad to have few "modern culture", but this should not bother you.

3. I like intelligent conversation, museums, etc.

Conversation always depends on the one your talking too. In Munich there are stupid people. But you also have the chance to find smart people, too. There are 11 universities with about 90.000 Students. Also there is a lot of business and culture. There will be enough people for good conversations ;-)

4. I like the good life. I love eating out and having a good time.

Doesn't eating out mean...? ;-) Great food in Munich; there is a bunch of things you can do when you go out. Did I mention 90k students? Guess what they always want to do - go out...

5. I'm somewhere in between an American and a German. Americans think I'm very reserved, and Germans think I'm very bubbly.

Alright. Just be yourself, you'll find friends. But you need to go and look for them. Do something, join a club or something.

6. I want to live in a classical apartment in a big city, but I want to be able to enjoy beautiful, untouched countryside.

Munich is just perfect for that. Classical appartements en masse, but you'll be in untouched country within 1 hour by public transportation. Big city - 1,5 million inhabitants + surrounding smaller villages - about 2 millionen people. The alps are quite close. There is also a lot of parks in Munich, very nice (MUCH nicer than any park I've seen in America)

7. I really don't mind tourists.

Good for you. There are several. But so may tourists can't be wrong, can they?
