Architecture River Cruise Chicago

On most of my trips abroad, I tend to wear me out so thoroughly during the day that I rarely have enough energy to continue my adventures in the night. It makes me hopelessly square sometimes, but I really enjoy just relaxing at the hotel during the evening to flip through the local television stations, enjoying the view, maybe order some room service. For me, these relaxing evening hours are just one part of the joy of travel. But Paris is another story.
After dark, walk on the streets of Paris from a crowded mass of business people and tourists to a much more sparsely populated, glowing urban paradise. In the City of Lights, stay all the major landmarks lights late at night, including the Eiffel Tower, which casts a dazzling light show until midnight.
In the middle of everything is the Seine, which throws a mini-light show of its own, since it reflects the view of buildings, streetlamps, and walking on its shimmering surface. Seine River is a narrow river, which means that even in the middle of the bridges, you still feel like you're in town. You do not have a little isolated and frightening power that you get the longer bridges over major rivers.
And we talk about security, Paris is one of the lowest crime in major cities in the world. So while there are plenty of things to be careful around town, you do not keep looking over your shoulder every seconds. Personally, I love being able to wander aimlessly around town at night without worrying that I'm going to slip into a high-crime district. Paris, less than the city itself, is certainly throughout. Even seedier and more colorful areas, like the one around Montmartre in the 18th arrondissement, is not dangerous.
The second thing that makes Paris perfect for night Walking is its small size. The city is only 40.5 square miles, which means that you are never more than one few miles from your hotel or your destination. And in Paris, when you come into a nice rhythm going, miles are so nice that they just fly by.
For tourists who go to the top of the Eiffel Tower and night cruises on the Seine are two of the most popular activities. The view from the tower is beautiful in the magic hour after sunset, when you can still see the buildings below and the lights are beginning to blink on. And river cruise takes you on a mini-tour through the center of Paris, the city lights up around you.
But by far the best thing to do in Paris at night is to stroll around, maybe stop in a brasserie for a snack and a drink, and just to immerse yourself in the Parisian lifestyle. Slow your stride, take in the architecture, and do not be afraid to follow where every whim takes you. Main arteries, including the Champs Elysees, can be quite lively and exciting night, but the whole side streets and residential neighborhoods are charming in their own, quiet roads.
