Define a possible space for the public library system. First list a wide range transactions that the library system could do. Then narrow down the scope. To do this, select the minimal set of key functions that you will implement the first version of the library system. Using object-oriented modeling technique to develop the requirement for a library system. Among the different techniques you should consider at least two (2) and employs both. Define possible scope of the public library system. A single library location, which allows a registered library user (holder) to browse through books, periodicals and various multimedia. It would be able to rent out these products to the user, and collect outstanding items from user. Simple number of important functions: 1) Opportunity to join a library card (record) 2) Borrow a book 3) Inventory, a book 4) Provide a user that a book is on overdue. A more narrow scope is based on the features above. (Level 1 decomposition) A library system would have: 1) Register a user subsystem - Assemble Uses information from the user, you must create an account to issue a card. 2) Borrow a book subsystem - Determine whether the book is in stock, whether the book is on hold, deciding about the book is intended to be checked out, set book / item for a "rental" status. 3) Inventory, a book subsystem - Get book from users who are book / account status to "available" 4) Give the user book is delayed subsystem - Check if all books are accounted for, recall the question, look up user information send message to the user. The two techniques that can be used in such a system is the degradation (breaking down a system into its smaller sub-systems which we just did) and loose coupling (a subystem is not dependent on another function) to get the idea of a multi-layer architecture, using the idea of decomposition. The longer you break a system down into its parts, the deeper the layer you go. Check out articles on UML and degradation. Together you should get an idea of this architecture.
